Imperial Guard Alien Invader Devastator

Hydra Flak Pattern Buyakis

Knowing what we all know about GW and how they move slower than the fastest servants in the Imperial Bureaucracy and the release schedule is often times years late for choices in Codices, I created my own Hydra Flak tank model so I could run 9 of these in the 2009 'Ardboyz tournament.  They did pretty well and scared the jeepers out of most opponents.

I already owned 9 Hellhounds and didn't feel the need to buy more models to convert over so my solution was simple.  I needed to create a baseplate that fits over the Hellhound turret ring and the rear hatch including the fuel tank feeds.  After making that, I made the turret, and created the autoguns and drum feeds.   With a little bit of Micro-mark technologies, I made enough to outfit 9 Hellhounds and away we went.

The real beauty of this bad-boy is that I can remove the peices and go back to using a Hellhound when I wish.

Horus Heresy

This should be interesting.

Horus Heresy Boardgame

A long time ago GW made some awesome board games.  All were fun in one way or another.  Some were based on GW IP and others just on great ideas (Warrior Knights and Blood Royale) or comics like Block Mania from Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper.

I've played FFG's Chaos in the Old World  a number of times.  There are multiple strategies to pursue to win the game, and the replay value is superb.  If this game is an indication, then Horus Heresy will be a blockbuster.

Death Guard

I've been using Death Guard in my Chaos Marine army for about a year now and the units consist of current metal models and much aged 2nd edition models. There are many modelling opportunities with Death Guard that I've been working on some of my own sculpts and have decided to share them today.

I used a very old Chaos Space Marine plastic model whose legs, body, and head were one single part, and I cut off the horns that were on the head. I used Green Stuff to sculpt on additional details such as the bloated belly, cracked kneepad, and cloven hoof features so often found on Death Guard models. Also included is an older style of helmet with large goggle eyes and some plague critter slithering out of the cracked belly plate.
This old metal backpack comes from a Skaven Poisoned Wind Globadier, maybe back in 5th edition. Heck, it was a long time ago. But these packs have always been interesting so I'm using them as a guide to making my own style of backpack that I can make plenty of. I think some variants should have a bubbling cauldron of pestilence....like my landraider in the previous post.

I was able to get about 15 old Rogue Trader Renegade Nurgle models that I've stripped down in preparation for cleaning and painting. They all had the super old original fat backpacks which were alright 2o years ago but its time to give them my new super improved backpacks.

Inspiration

What motivates an individual? I'm always thinking about scenery and modelling so I thought I'd share what my game table looks like and my chaos marine army as I deployed against Space Wolves.

I've got a number of concepts in the works that I'll be tackling over the next few weeks.

Doodling Art

I was thinking about a nice art header for the FORT, and I scratched out this doodle last night at the PTO meeting. It hearkens back to one of Foley's old Imperial Fist Terminators whose fighting prowess one night was the stuff of legends at the old Fort Buyaki in Baltimore. Foley painted on some buttresses on his lower greave to represent that glorious action.

My art skills on paper are something to be desired so if you can do better so why don't you artists have a crack at it. And show me what a horizontal one will look like too. I think I got a bit Blanchitsu on the lettering which I've always found fascinating in his madcap art books.
